#NADTA2021 Call for Proposals: Submissions Open Today!

The NADTA will be hosting its 42nd annual conference in the fall, and like last year, the conference will be all-virtual.

Have you marked your calendars yet?  The dates for #NADTA2021 are:

- Saturday, September 18th
- Saturday, October 9th; and
- Saturday, November 20th

#NADTA2021 is all about finding ways to “connect, celebrate, and co-create”.  The conference is focusing on these 3 overarching themes:

  • The State of the Art & the Profession: This will include introductions to current approaches and practices - how are drama therapists in our community doing their work today?
  • The Business of the Association: This will focus on the current events and updates from the NADTA, and will include our meetings and committee chair forums and presentations.
  • Future Directions: This will focus on the new and emerging work in our field such as fresh perspectives and expansions of previous modalities, new research, and new approaches and practices.

Another vital theme that is woven through all of the above is awareness and dedication to cultural humility, equity, and diversity (CHED).  We will be accepting proposals this year from presenters for poster sessions and performances that demonstrate meaningful integration of cultural humility, equity, and diversity into your work.

We will be accepting proposals for presentations in two formats:

  • Poster Sessions; and
  • Pre-Recorded Performances

This will allow our community to dip into a greater variety of content, and allow us to engage and invite many more folks to present their work.

Given that our first conference event is only 3 months away, the proposal process will be a very quick turn around this year, and for the first time, our submissions are happening within MemberClicks, our back-of-house, members-only platform for connecting our community.

Login to your MemberClicks profile TODAY and be sure it is up to date! Check your contact email, your name, credentials, bio, etc., as this is the information that will be used for all-things-conference. Click here to login to your MemberClicks profile.

The submission system is open TODAY, Tuesday, June 22nd at 12am EST, and will close on Thursday, July 15th, at 11:59pm EST.  For more information about the submission process, please refer to the attached submission forms.  Note that there are separate forms for Poster Sessions and Performances.

In order to help you organize your thoughts, we are providing PDF copies of the submission criteria and forms that you can use to draft out your proposal.  You can then “copy+paste” your responses into the form when you’re ready to submit.

With a little over three weeks to submit, remember to get those proposals ready as soon as possible!

Please note that there will not be any extensions for the July 15th deadline, and late submissions are not able to be accepted.

For accessibility purposes, we suggest for anyone who has trouble interacting with the MemberClicks submission form, to please complete your proposal by filling out the attached PDF forms. These can then be sent in as an email attachment to, and someone from our team will enter the submission to the system for you. Your submission MUST be received by our team no later than Thursday, July 15th, 2021 @ 11:59pm EST deadline.

Please note: we ask that if you are able to utilize the electronic form provided to submit your proposal, to please do so, as manually entering the proposals may inadvertently increase mistakes in the entry, and delays our team’s ability to review proposals.  If you need a little help, we encourage you to partner with your co-presenters or ask for the support of a colleague or community member if possible to utilize the designated system.

Again, the submission system is now open as of Tuesday, June 22nd at 12am EST, and will close on Thursday, July 15th, at 11:59pm EST.

We acknowledge that there is a lot going on in our community, that #NADTA2021 is taking on a new approach, and that the turn-around-time feels very quick, all of which can feel strange.  We thank you for your understanding and cooperation with us in this process, as we are working ardently to plan this event for our community to gather in the Fall.

We look forward to reading your proposals!

Thank you,

Your #NADTA2021 Conference Team
