Tri-State Chapter / NYU Theatre & Health Forum

The NADTA Tri-state Chapter is pleased to announce our co-sponsorship of New York University’s Drama Therapy & Educational Theatre Forum 2019: Theatre & Health from April 11-14, 2019.

The forum will feature an exciting program beginning with a full day public think tank on April 11th to launch the NYU Theatre and Health Lab directed by Dr. Nisha Sajnani. See the full conference schedule here

Forum highlights include:

  • Featured plenary with playwright Sarah Ruhl and her husband, psychiatrist Tony Charuvastra
  • Speakers include Dr. Nisha Sajnani, Dr. Renee Emunah, Dr. Stephen Snow, Dr. Anna Seymour, Dr. Thalia Goldstein, and Dr. Zoi Kapoula
  • Workshops on therapeutic theatre, improv and mental health, playback theatre, theatre in and about healthcare, theatre and public health, and much more.
  • Featured performances on issues related to PTSD, diabetes, race and racism, addiction, Parkinson's disease, and depression amongst other concerns.
  • A special post-conference workshop on self-revelatory performance with Dr. Renee Emunah on April 14th.

The Tri-state Chapter looks forward to this collaboration with NYU’s Program in Drama Therapy which will bring together drama therapists and allied professionals interested in the health benefits of theatre.
